About Us


Wanahabari Centre is a local media development organization which seeks to empower local journalists tell compelling, data driven and evidence-based stories. Through training, mentorship and access to our wealth of resources, Wanahabari provides journalists with unparalleled and quality competences to sharpen their skills.

Established in June 2014, Wanahabari is registered by the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Coordination Board to provide media training and development, and media consultancies across the country. It seeks to empower journalists through thematically designed practical training programs.

Accredited by the media Councill of Kenya, Wanahabari Centre also provides media training to Non-Governmental Organization, Government institutions, schools of journalism and community-based institutions on how to engage with the media.

HEALTH

We strengthen journalists’ capacity to report on health issues with accuracy, empathy, and public interest at heart.

GOVERNANCE

Through our training, mentorship, and partnerships, we equip media professionals to uncover the stories behind public policy, service delivery, and leadership — fostering informed citizens and responsive institutions.

MIGRATION

We train journalists to report on refugees and migration with accuracy, empathy, and context. Our programs strengthen ethical storytelling, promote inclusion, and build understanding between communities.

AGRICULTURE

Through our specialized training programs, mentorship, and media partnerships, we equip reporters to unpack complex Agricultural issues — from climate-smart farming and agribusiness to food security and policy reform.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

We empower youth and young journalists to become informed storytellers, critical thinkers, and active participants in shaping their societies
